Let's Vision 2025 Last week Let's Vision 2025 conference was held in Shanghai. I've been told there were well over 2,500 attendees. That's approaching WWDC numbers! Last year I was invited to be a speaker in Beijing, at what would be the first conference in the world based around the Vision Pro. This year's conference was expanded to other Apple technologies, and attendees saw talks some of the speakers I met in 2024, and this year added Paul Hudson and Ryan McLeod creator of the ADA winning...

Me wearing my first Vision Pro at the Rochester NY Apple Store One Year With Apple Vision Pro It's been just over a year for early adopters of the Apple Vision Pro. I think for the majority of users it's been an amazing change for how we work and consume media. The bandwagon jumpers all returned their devices after the 14 day cooling off period. Like any new device it has its detractors, but I think a lot of us realize that Apple positioned the device as a Pro purchase to introduce this...

Early XR prototype? The Arnolfini Portrait by Jan Van Eyck is probably the one of the first extended reality proof of concepts I saw. The truth is that an artists prowess was in depicting reality, before photography was invented. Still I was inspired by this artwork's attention to detail and trompe l'oeil ('fool the eye"). NVIDIA Adopts Vision Pro with it's Issac Groot AI Enabled Robots Unveiled at CES earlier this month, NVIDIA's keynote introduced several amazing new features, but Issac...

'Wicked' Use of Vision Pro Director John M. Chu used Apple Vision Pro during post-production of the film Wicked. He used the device to watch scenes as if he was in a theatre. He could then communicate with his teams about his thoughts. He was also able to mark up the film with gestures with Evercast, so the production team would know where to make changes. Watch him discuss the use of his Vision Pro on YouTube. You can read about the use of the device on 9to5mac.‘Wicked’ director Jon M. Chu...

TableTopKit TL;DR Cristian (without h) and Roxana Nagy are building a game app for Vision Pro using TableTopKit. I had a chance to play around with a few people on a spatial call, including Cristian last week. TabletopKit was introduced this year at WWDC24 in a "lightweight" package of one session accompanied by a sample code project and the relative documentation. You can read about Cristian's discoveries, observations and some thoughts on TableTopKit on his blog. He includes some "radars"...

Project Moohan device render Welcome Android XR, Seriously Way back in 1981, Apple ran a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal headlined Welcome IBM, Seriously. Steve Jobs wasn't worried about the introduction of the IBM PC because he was confident that the Apple computers were better and less constricted by big corporate design. A few days ago Samsung and Google shared the news, about their partnership along with Qualcomm, to produce an XR device under Project Moohan to compete directly...

Looked At Clouds From Both Sides Stealing the line from Joni Mitchell, this weekend Gregory Weiber aka Dreamweiber published a quick Reality Composer Pro Shader Graph tutorial on creating clouds, procedurally created with subtle movement. I look a quick look this afternoon, and hope to see it attached to a sphere on the inside for a skybox (both sides). I love seeing Shader Graph content as currently they are not well documented in the visionOS world.Check out the tutorial here: Happy Clouds...

Black Friday Live! A friend of mine, Robin Senior, who works at Shopify sent me a link on Black Friday to watch on my Vision Pro. Loading the Shopify Live Globe web page in Safari, I saw an Enter VR button. Presented with a giant red lever, I pinched to lower the lever and was transported into a virtual ship orbiting the Earth. On the globe, sites around the world lit up and I could see the transactions arcing in yellow between seller and buyers. The console displays the sales and orders as...

Another Cozy WWDC - visionOS This past Wednesday, developers from around the world joined Apple in-person and online for a day of visonOS talks. Apple's own Vision Pro evangelists gave presentations on designing for Vision Pro, best practices and some really cool examples which are on the App Store already. They also had chat running all day as they took questions for attendees. They closed the event with a live Q&A with the audience both in-house and online. No Spoilers, since Apple is...
