Issue 9: diff visionOS

BlueSky Weeknd

This past weekend many of us fell into the BlueSky rabbit hole. I joined BlueSky back in July 2023, and it kind of sat on my iPhone waiting for people to post. I'd occasionally remember to cross-post along with Twitter, Mastodon and Threads. BlueSky was pretty much an afterthought.

Then at the beginning of November, I started getting new followers en masse. During the first Sunday, the flood gates opened when I previously had around 100 followers. Today I have over 760 followers, as I write this on Mon Nov 18, 2023. Is that 600% increase?

One of the cool things on BlueSky is how you can follow lists and find Starter Packs, which are compiled lists of people to follow, in relevant or similar interests. I started a visionOS Starter Pack (DM me if you want to be added.)

There are also a couple of Apple Developer Starter Packs:

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Weeknd!
This weekend we also got the new Vision Pro music video from Canada's own The Weeknd: The Weeknd: Open Hearts. It is an immersive experience video designed to be viewed on the Vision Pro.

“Apple Immersive Video brings The Weeknd’s creative vision to life in an entirely new way with Open Hearts, a groundbreaking music experience available only on Apple Vision Pro,” said Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of Marketing Communications. “With Vision Pro, fans experience storytelling in ways that were not possible before: with immersive visuals and Spatial Audio that make them feel like they’re right in the middle of the action. This is an exciting leap forward in how music and technology come together to deliver memorable experiences for fans, and we’re proud to collaborate with The Weeknd to make it happen.”

WWDC 2025 & visionOS 3.0 I don't know about you but I find the socials flooded with substance-less click-bate posts about future tech to be disingenuous. Unless you are new to developing in the Apple ecosphere (Welcome if you are new), you would know that Apple announces new tech and operating systems every year at WWDC. In the Before Time, Steve Jobs would announce new tech at the January MacWorld conference keynote, but starting around the iPhone 4 introduction on June 7, 2010, the WWDC...

Let's Vision 2025 Last week Let's Vision 2025 conference was held in Shanghai. I've been told there were well over 2,500 attendees. That's approaching WWDC numbers! Last year I was invited to be a speaker in Beijing, at what would be the first conference in the world based around the Vision Pro. This year's conference was expanded to other Apple technologies, and attendees saw talks some of the speakers I met in 2024, and this year added Paul Hudson and Ryan McLeod creator of the ADA winning...

Me wearing my first Vision Pro at the Rochester NY Apple Store One Year With Apple Vision Pro It's been just over a year for early adopters of the Apple Vision Pro. I think for the majority of users it's been an amazing change for how we work and consume media. The bandwagon jumpers all returned their devices after the 14 day cooling off period. Like any new device it has its detractors, but I think a lot of us realize that Apple positioned the device as a Pro purchase to introduce this...
