Ultra-wide Display on Vision Pro & Mac Mini M4

This week the visionOS 2.2 beta and macOS 15.2 beta dropped, which includes the much anticipated Mac mirroring Ultra-wide Display on Vision Pro. This provides the Mac mirrored display with three choices; the original 16 x 9 ~40" 4K display, a wide display, and an ultra-wide panoramic display.

I tried it out by installing the macOS 15.2 beta on an external SSD, while sitting at my 60" desk. The ultra-wide mode, wrapped around the desk on a huge curved virtual display. I was able to open 4 applications with room to spare (TV app, Safari, Maps, and Apple News). Additionally the audio from the Mac is played on the Vision Pro's speakers, and I could see my MacBook Air's backlight keyboard break through the immersion when I looked at it.

The Ultimate Virtual Mac?
There have been a few posts suggesting the combination of the new 5" x 5" Mac Mini M4 with the Apple Vision Pro (AVP), along with Apple's Keyboard and Trackpad. The Mini even fits inside the Vision Pro Travel case. Yuka Ohishi posted on Threads about combining the Mac Mini with the AVP. Nathaniel de Jong posted on LinkedIn about the fit in the Travel Case.

Everything's Cooler in Space.
Lena Stöxen's talk, Everything's Cooler in Space, from Swift Connection 2024 is up on YouTube. She discusses her adventures about cross-developing AR experience for iOS and visionOS. She's playfully taking about using Reality Kit's ECS, Entities, Components and Systems.

Apple is now selling the new Belkin Head Strap for Apple Vision Pro. This is similar to the straps that were on the pre-release dev kits. In the picture above is my Vision Pro with the original AnnaPro strap.

Vision Pro Designer & Developer Check In My friends Oliver and Yuki, along with Tom Krikorian, have created two Vision Pro creator surveys. Tom has created his second survey for developers. Previously he collected data a year ago. Oliver and Yuki have made a survey for designers and UX folks. It's been two years since the Apple Vision Pro was announced at WWDC23. Let's take a look at the state of development for this amazing platform. After taking the survey(s) you can sign up to receive the...

WWDC 2025 & visionOS 3.0 I don't know about you but I find the socials flooded with substance-less click-bait posts about future tech to be disingenuous. Unless you are new to developing in the Apple ecosphere (Welcome if you are new), you would know that Apple announces new tech and operating systems every year at WWDC. In the Before Time, Steve Jobs would announce new tech at the January MacWorld conference keynote, but starting around the iPhone 4 introduction on June 7, 2010, the WWDC...

Let's Vision 2025 Last week Let's Vision 2025 conference was held in Shanghai. I've been told there were well over 2,500 attendees. That's approaching WWDC numbers! Last year I was invited to be a speaker in Beijing, at what would be the first conference in the world based around the Vision Pro. This year's conference was expanded to other Apple technologies, and attendees saw talks some of the speakers I met in 2024, and this year added Paul Hudson and Ryan McLeod creator of the ADA winning...
