Issue 6: diff visionOS

Moving In Stereo

A couple of interesting posts this week, the first up is from Gregory Wieber who posted a short video about visionOS 2.0's support for Pixar-invented subdivision surfaces that speed up rendering of 3D models -
Subdivision Surfaces on Apple Vision Pro. That lead me down the rabbit hole to this older video explaining the TL;DR. Subdivision Surfaces: Overview.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned StepInto.vision. A few days ago, a colleague was asking about passing values when opening windows in visionOS. I went back to the site and found that there are now more examples on opening Volumes and gestures. Definitely a site to keep an eye on.

Last weekend we lost Adam. He was super excited about the Vision Pro and was going to buy one. As we get ready to celebrate him soon, I was wondering about sharing some captures I had made with my own Vision Pro (and iPhone 16 Pro.) The short version is that I've made some progress on printing out viewable versions of the shots, while we wait for everyone to adopt spatial computing. Stay tuned for a post and maybe an app to do this work - so viewers can use a stereogram viewer or Google Cardboard, etc.

See you in the future!

Here are some of the best picks:

Xcode 26 Persona now uses Gaussian Splats for better rendering. One Week with Vision Pro M5 It’s been a week since I got my new Vision Pro M5 — the second configuration from Apple — and I’m ready to share my impressions. TL;DR: It’s noticeably sharper and faster than the original Vision Pro. It’s a great choice for first-time Vision Pro buyers, or for developers and those working with Apple Intelligence, which is ~50% faster, and 3rd-party apps are now up to 2x faster. The Vision Pro M5 is an...

The UI metaphors we’ve been dealing with for the past 18 months are available on your iOS, watchOS and tvOS devices; round buttons, transparency, and glassy surfaces. Now that visionOS is released you can try all of the new features. Here are some on my faves. Super Realistic...
