Looked At Clouds From Both Sides

Stealing the line from Joni Mitchell, this weekend Gregory Weiber aka Dreamweiber published a quick Reality Composer Pro Shader Graph tutorial on creating clouds, procedurally created with subtle movement. I look a quick look this afternoon, and hope to see it attached to a sphere on the inside for a skybox (both sides). I love seeing Shader Graph content as currently they are not well documented in the visionOS world.

Carina D1: PixMXR has remixed their charging stand for Vision Pro

Last week I saw and instantly ordered the new Carina D1 Charging Dock for Apple Vision Pro on Amazon. It is much more compact than my Apple Travel Case, which I've been using to move between rooms. The bonus for me is that it includes a 65 watt charger brick and the battery charges as it rests in the dock.

Starry Skies

Dwight Benigus aka Dwight the Maker published a quick tutorial on creating a realistic star field with Reality Composer Pro using Particle Emitters. He demos how to set up the emitters to create the stars and use RealityKit code to pause the motion, since stars unlike the clouds above don't move preceptively.

Testing Spatial Photo and Video Embeds

Thanks this time to Micheal Verdi's blog post TESTING SPATIAL PHOTO AND VIDEO EMBEDS he's demoed how Safari can support Spatial Photos and Spatial Videos, shot on iPhone 15/16 Pro, and can be viewed on the Vision Pro. With a couple of clicks, users can select a photo or video on your blog post and choose "View Spatial Photo" for example.

I took it for a spin myself on my Wordpress site. You upload the HEIC photo and Wordpress will embed the image with a JPEG preview. I did have to surround the image with a "<picture>" tag in code to get it to work.</picture>

See you in the future!

WWDC 2025 & visionOS 3.0 I don't know about you but I find the socials flooded with substance-less click-bate posts about future tech to be disingenuous. Unless you are new to developing in the Apple ecosphere (Welcome if you are new), you would know that Apple announces new tech and operating systems every year at WWDC. In the Before Time, Steve Jobs would announce new tech at the January MacWorld conference keynote, but starting around the iPhone 4 introduction on June 7, 2010, the WWDC...

Let's Vision 2025 Last week Let's Vision 2025 conference was held in Shanghai. I've been told there were well over 2,500 attendees. That's approaching WWDC numbers! Last year I was invited to be a speaker in Beijing, at what would be the first conference in the world based around the Vision Pro. This year's conference was expanded to other Apple technologies, and attendees saw talks some of the speakers I met in 2024, and this year added Paul Hudson and Ryan McLeod creator of the ADA winning...

Me wearing my first Vision Pro at the Rochester NY Apple Store One Year With Apple Vision Pro It's been just over a year for early adopters of the Apple Vision Pro. I think for the majority of users it's been an amazing change for how we work and consume media. The bandwagon jumpers all returned their devices after the 14 day cooling off period. Like any new device it has its detractors, but I think a lot of us realize that Apple positioned the device as a Pro purchase to introduce this...
