Another Cozy WWDC - visionOS

This past Wednesday, developers from around the world joined Apple in-person and online for a day of visonOS talks. Apple's own Vision Pro evangelists gave presentations on designing for Vision Pro, best practices and some really cool examples which are on the App Store already. They also had chat running all day as they took questions for attendees. They closed the event with a live Q&A with the audience both in-house and online.

No Spoilers, since Apple is hosting Envision the future: Build great apps for visionOS in the upcoming weeks around the world. They covered using SwiftUI with RealityView, and expanded on their Reality Composer Pro examples from June's WWDC videos. It was on-fire!

They've also shared a visionOS Discord server.

The coolest app you missed this week was the F1 Lapz
app for Vision Pro. You may have seen a prototype video when the Vision Pro was announced. It promised to show live metadata as racers went around the 3D track in your living room. The F1 iPad app had that type of information and you can see realtime data if you watch the live broadcast. Unfortunately, the TestFlight has been taken down, due to some copyright or branding issues apparently. You can read about that is this 9to5.com article.

Experience Vision - Paris 2025

Experience Vision is coming up on February 6, 2025. The developers behind Lapz will be there.

WWDC 2025 & visionOS 3.0 I don't know about you but I find the socials flooded with substance-less click-bate posts about future tech to be disingenuous. Unless you are new to developing in the Apple ecosphere (Welcome if you are new), you would know that Apple announces new tech and operating systems every year at WWDC. In the Before Time, Steve Jobs would announce new tech at the January MacWorld conference keynote, but starting around the iPhone 4 introduction on June 7, 2010, the WWDC...

Let's Vision 2025 Last week Let's Vision 2025 conference was held in Shanghai. I've been told there were well over 2,500 attendees. That's approaching WWDC numbers! Last year I was invited to be a speaker in Beijing, at what would be the first conference in the world based around the Vision Pro. This year's conference was expanded to other Apple technologies, and attendees saw talks some of the speakers I met in 2024, and this year added Paul Hudson and Ryan McLeod creator of the ADA winning...

Me wearing my first Vision Pro at the Rochester NY Apple Store One Year With Apple Vision Pro It's been just over a year for early adopters of the Apple Vision Pro. I think for the majority of users it's been an amazing change for how we work and consume media. The bandwagon jumpers all returned their devices after the 14 day cooling off period. Like any new device it has its detractors, but I think a lot of us realize that Apple positioned the device as a Pro purchase to introduce this...
